| Background | C-C motif chemokine 2 (CCL2/MCP-1) is a ~11 kDa protein. Acts as a ligand for C-C chemokine receptor CCR2. Signals through binding and activation of CCR2 and induces a strong chemotactic response and mobilization of intracellular calcium ions. Exhibits a chemotactic activity for monocytes and basophils but not neutrophils or eosinophils. May be involved in the recruitment of monocytes into the arterial wall during the disease process of atherosclerosis. 1. Hemmerich, S. et al. (1999) Biochemistry 38, 13013-25. PMID: 10529171 2. Flow-cytometry using anti-human CCL2 antibody.A549 cells were stained with an irrelevant antibody (Blue Histogram) or an anti-human CCL2 antibody monoclonal antibody (Catalog # HY280107 ,Green Histogram) at a concentration of 5 µg/ml for 30 mins at RT. After washing, bound antibody was detected using a FITC conjugated goat anti-mouse antibody (Catalog # MF690414) and cells analysed on a NovoCyte Flow Cytometer.
